parkHillPic-mDespite indifferent weather there was a good turn out of visitors to the urbansplash sponsored Open Apartment day at Park Hill in Sheffield, South Yorkshire today.

The new residences were very spacious by inner city standards when built in the 1960’s, but now urbansplash have added new colour and a modern aesthetic to the the first release of apartments.

Early in the morning the apartment building was looking out over the city, reflecting the rising sun with bright flashes of colour from its hilltop setting.

They are on the way to becoming the stylish living spaces in a city quarter that is only minutes from the central rail terminal and the retail delights of this transforming city.

We were very interested to hear from the urbansplash marketing team about the opportunities for office spaces, workshops and…to the flutter of our hearts, the potential spaces for bistros and coffee bars.

Our company parent, JFC, has certainly earmarked Park Hill for attention in its future plans. You can see more of the development and the residential and commercial opportunities here.

Caffe Carino were on hand to deliver the best espresso and hot drinks on a fresh day to the urbansplash team and their visitors. Anna and Tom found a quiet corner, away from the occasional raindrops and served a steady stream of cappuccino and hot chocolate to their audience.

We had a great day – with our complimentary voucher service, especially designed for the Park Hill event!

coffeeEntrepreneurPicWe were really pleased to see a feature on Anna at Caffe Carino in Enterprise Express this week.

This weekly e-publication for small businesses, created by the Federation for Small Businesses, is a great resource for traders and business people both in food and drink and across all other business sectors in South & East Yorkshire.

Anna is very happy to offer insights into starting a new business, reflecting upon both the current economic climate and getting started in business as a young person too.

We think her passion for good coffee shines through, as well as her drive to create a viable business that will create employment for other young people too.

You can read Anna’s Enterprise Express feature on our in the press page here.

You can find the home page for the FSB in South and East Yorkshire here.

If you would like to join the FSB you can see the membership benefits and rates here.

The British Coffee association have produced a great short video that supplies interesting facts about your health and coffee.

You can enjoy 4 to 5 cups a day without guilt, knowing that the pause for a drink and a snack makes a great contribution to lowering your stress levels and recharging your batteries.

We think that this is important too at Caffe Carino. A good coffee, with a whole food snack or a great high-fibre home made biscuit can be just the pick me up you need in a busy day.

Yesterday we had our presentation to the successful graphic designer Liam Warsop, who created our new logo to support the Caffe Carino brand.

The successful design is displayed behind the group in this photograph.

Liam is a student on the Foundation Graphic Design course at Norton College, part of The Sheffield College.

The cheque and our gratitude was presented to Liam by Anna Phipps, Head of Operations at Caffe Carino. Anna thanked Liam …for his inspirational work and was delighted to see both how much new technology the college makes available to students, but also how supportive and creative the atmosphere at the College was.

Liam was supported at the ceremony by Paul Clarkson, Graphic Design Lecturer at Norton College and by Deborah Pinder, Enterprise Development Manager for the College.

Tim Smith, a director of JFC (Yorkshire) Limited the Caffe Carino parent company, told Liam …how delighted the team were to have their new logo, and that the team would watch Liam’s graphic design career with interest.

Norton College Foundation Graphic Design students are shortly to go to New York as part of their studies and we hope the additional prize funds come in useful.

Thanks to Norton College for making us so welcome – we hope to return with more design competitions and prizes in the future.

You can see our Design page on the Caffe Carino website here.
